It’s difficult to provide a successful SEO service in Bournemouth without my trusted sidekicks. SEO tools help me to produce SEO audits, analyse technical SEO and define the SEO strategy – I wouldn’t achieve the same results without them! I felt it was time to give them an official shout out – and let all other budding SEO wizards in on the secret. After all, if Google won’t tell us what’s going on, we’ll have to look out for each other!
Here’s 3 SEO tools you may not have heard of but that will save you hours of time:
1. Screaming Frog
Screaming Frog is the ultimate SEO tool. It can crawl entire sites (even big sites thanks to its exclude function, which is an absolute SEO life saver) and tell you about the URLS, meta titles, meta descriptions, H1s, status codes are and so much more. I find it most useful for checking response codes, if any URLs are still HTTP after a transferal to HTTPS, and ‘no index’ codes. Screaming Frog can also tell you if a site has any redirect chains – amazing if you’ve been wondering why your site is so slow!
2. Redirect Path
I like to use Redirect Path, a Google Chrome add-on, for clarifying redirect chains as I’m working on fixing them. It shows exactly what pages have been redirected and allows me to easily check if I’ve fixed it.
3. Meta SEO Inspector
I like Meta SEO Inspector, another Google Chrome add-on, because it’s a quick and easy way to check if a site has meta data and if it has been added correctly. I’ve had a few cases where 2 meta descriptions appear in the code, or the brand name shows up after every meta title we’ve carefully crafted – usually due to a Yoast setting or hard coded issue. With Meta SEO Inspector I can flag these issues and check if the fix is live.
