Upperdog wrapped – a year in review

Never ones to miss out on an excuse for a celebration, we’re delighted to announce it’s our birthday! That’s right, we’re turning a whopping twelve years old—finally old enough to see Step Up 3D in the cinema. Did we say Step Up 3D? We meant something cool like, err, Interstellar 🫤.

In any case, it’s that time of the season where we look back at the previous year and reflect on the highs (top search results in Google!), the lows (record low cost-per-clicks!), and all-round standout moments (flashy new client websites!) that defined 2024. Truly, 12 incredibly months of high-quality marketing, if we do say so ourselves.

But enough preamble—here are the numbers that matter.

10 office dogs

While we could begin by celebrating the 28 talented marketers, developers, and designers who make up Upperdog, it’s more fitting that we first acknowledge these 10 special pooches. Without their hard work and enthusiastic tail wagging, 2024 simply wouldn’t have been possible (probably).

And don’t worry, we know exactly what our audience wants—you can get to know all our office dogs here.

8 fresh faces

Okay, now we can give a shout out to the humans who—err, you know—actually did the work (it’s not the dogs’ fault they can’t operate a keyboard). 2024 was a great year for everyone, with the whole team pulling together to deliver record results for our clients.

On top of our existing roster of talented professionals, last year also saw eight new members join the team. We’re delighted they chose our digital marketing agency as the place to hone their skills, so here’s to many more years together!

P.S. If you feel like you’re missing out, why not check out our job openings?

8 website launches

Who knew eight was such a popular number? Our web design team worked their socks off to mirror our hiring policy, successfully managing to release eight cutting-edge websites. And boy, did they deliver.

Killer visuals? Check. Intuitive functionality? You got it. Mind-numbingly complex technological integrations distilled into pleasingly user-friendly interfaces? It’s just what we do—check out the finance tools we built for BMW Motorrad as an example.

And on the subject of new site launches, there’s one in particular that holds a special place in our hearts…

1 new upperdog.co.uk

We do love a new website here at Upperdog. This is the fourth version so far—and undoubtedly the best yet. If you haven’t done so already, head to our homepage and bask in all its exquisite glory.

Things we like about this current iteration:

  • Nice and tidy
  • Has a fancy showreel
  • When you hover over our faces on the About page you can see sneak peaks into our real lives (still no idea why Liam’s kitchen is on fire).

1,051 words of praise

To coincide with the new website, we reached out to our wonderful clients in case they had any kind words to share about our services. Incredibly, they came back with over 1,000 of them!

And that’s only counting the shortened testimonials that actually made it onto the site. Regrettably, we didn’t think to record the original wordcount until someone had the bright idea of writing this blog.

10 new marketing clients

It wasn’t only the development team doing the heavy lifting in 2024—the marketing team had their own projects to contend with.

Last year we welcomed seven more clients into the marketing fold, unleashing our full array of PPC, paid social, and SEO skills. We were also thrilled to reunite with three returning clients and to continue working alongside everyone else who’s trusted in our services through the years.

20 certifications

Who doesn’t enjoy earning a badge of honour every now and then? No one took this more seriously than our digital marketing team who set about achieving an impressive 20 of them.

Across Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, it’s safe to say we have our clients’ ad services covered.

18 bake off entries

Considering this was meant to be a company-wide competition, it’s a little odd there weren’t 28 entries—one for each member of the team. Lloyd, just because you won in 2023 doesn’t mean you get a year off.

Congratulations to Angie for her magnificently festive creations.

146 ice creams consumed

Alright, we may have guessed the number for this one. As much as we love data, ice cream habits aren’t currently an area we’re tracking. Still, one thing we can say with confidence is that we consumed a lot of refreshing treats.

While the summer of 2024 was generally considered cooler than previous years, the rules didn’t seem to apply to sunny old Bournemouth. If you’d like to experience a warm day for yourself (they actually do exist), why not pop by our marketing agency on the south coast and say hi?

And ice cream of choice goes to New Forest Ice Cream, in case you’re wondering. After treating them to a delicious new website fresh for 2024, the current favourites for the Client of the Year Award even dropped off a selection of tubs to show their appreciation (other forms of bribery are available).

1 happy agency

So, what happens when you add all these numbers together? You get one incredible year at Upperdog!

We’re absolutely thrilled to have made it this far and can’t wait to see what’s to come for 2025. It’s already set to be a huge year with our 12th birthday celebrations just beginning.

What are the team doing to commemorate the occasion, you ask? Keep your eyes on the Upperdog blog—further updates from the team to follow!
