Looking to be noticed on social media? Look no further; Twitter Cards are the answer to standing out from the crowd on a Twitter feed. Twitter Cards in a nutshell allow you to bring richer experiences to your followers with expanded tweets.

Twitter has released eight Cards (seven free, one paid) to help you get the most out of your content. Here’s the Upperdog guide to all eight:

1. Summary Card

The Summary Card lets you share a link with a short summary or description beside it. With Twitter Summary Cards you can customise the description to make your post even more personal, so instead of pulling the first few lines from the article, users can now tailor these cards specifically for their audience. Want to ask a question, grab attention or foster discussion? This is the card for you.

2. Summary Card (with larger photo)

This card sacrifices a small character amount for a larger photo that grabs people’s attention. This is good for more visually compelling photos that lend themselves to a story. Got a great image? Make use of it!

3. Product Card

Ecommerce, rejoice! Twitter Product Cards are chock-full of information that will make your goods go further on social media. Product Cards are a great way to drive traffic to your site and potentially increase your sales. These cards can include a combination of photos, product descriptions, ratings, stock, size and more. Much like a Google Shopping product ad these are a no brainer if you have an online store.

4. App Card

This card is a perfect opportunity to showcase the latest apps. Available on both iOS and Android, by embedding the information onto the card, apps can now be downloaded without ever having to leave your mobile twitter feed. Us lazy? No…

5. Player Card

Embedding video and audio into your tweet is possible with the Player card; a sure-fire way to raise interest amongst your followers. From breaking news clips and updates to daily vines this card helps to drive traffic to a particular piece of audio-visual content and brightens up anyone’s feed.

Up to four images can be embedded on this fancy card. The Gallery Card is perfect for sharing the great things you’ve seen or done. Brilliant for introducing a story or summarising an event – or for when you have just too many images to choose from.

8. Lead Generation

This is the only card that is available through a promoted tweet and is an easy way to get people to sign up to newsletters or email feeds and share information. Generate leads directly within Twitter and view insights within the Twitter Ads platform.
