By on

The run up to Christmas is a competitive time for corporate giants like Amazon and Google. So it’s unsurprising that Google have just released some sexy new features on their mobile SERPs, just in time to help you find that perfect gift. These new updates will help consumers discover, research and compare new products.

More product information with Quick View

More people are shopping on their phone than ever before. In fact, the British population will spend an estimate of over £27bn on mobile devices in 2017! This is why it is so important to for companies to invest in mobile optimisation and learn how their products are found with a mobile device.

The all new ‘Quick View’ button from Google allows users to learn more about the product instantly. From here you can see larger images, product details, product reviews, seller reviews and any handy product deals that might be on offer.

The Knowledge Panel has had a much-needed refresh! You can now see data points as well as related-videos for the product. If you are searching for a broad category, Google will now present buyer-guides to help you choose. For example, you may see ‘How to pick the right coffee machine for you’ when searching for a new espresso machine.

Not finding quite what you are looking for? Google will now show you related products (much like Amazon) to help you find exactly what you need.

Competitor comparisons side by side

E-commerce companies should note this new update will also show prices, reviews and seller reviews side-by-side. This data is sourced from online merchants, manufacturers, brands and information from product ratings programs.  If you don’t already, take some time to research your competitors because this could be a game-changer. If you would like to run a Google shopping campaign but your company doesn’t have the time or knowledge, consider outsourcing to a trusted AdWords management agency like us!
