Optimising your company’s Google My Business listing is an integral part of any SEO strategy. You may have claimed, verified and entered all the essential contact details. Now, what’s next? Here we list how to further optimise your Google My Business listing with some new updates.
New Post Options
Google My Business has had the posts feature for a while. These little ‘mini adverts’ can be a great way to showcase a new blog or news story. But Google have made some updates to make your posts pop:
• What’s New – Have a new product or updating your menu? This post helps you shout about any new information about your business with a photo/video, link and CTA button.
• Product – A handy post for advertising specific products, such as your current best sellers.
• Event – Promote any events your company is holding. Event posts can feature the same info as standard posts but can also include the event start/end dates and time.
• Offer – Our digital marketing services team love this one! Use this post to highlight current offers or deals. You can include a ‘View Offer’ CTA button, plus coupon codes and terms & conditions with the post.
Attributes
An interesting new update from Google is the newly added ‘Attributes’. These are searchable features of the business that may benefit people researching your company. Attributes are business category specific. For example, restaurants may include ‘gluten-free options’. If a hotel is pet-friendly, they may add ‘dogs allowed’. Google also provides businesses with the option to add a ‘women-led’ icon to attribution.
Business Descriptions
Google My Business descriptions are back! Google has now generously given businesses a 750 character limit to illustrate their offering. However, please note that only the first 250 characters appear unless the user clicks to read more. This is a great opportunity to include your most important brand information and keywords.
