Upperdog’s Dogs’ Day Out

We just LOVE dogs.

By on

This past weekend saw Upperdog successfully join forces with the local population of fellow dog lovers to raise money for charity. Boxers met Chihuahuas as our canine convoy walked from Boscombe pier to Bournemouth pier on Saturday 26th October as we played our part in raising awareness for two inspirational local charities.

Our sponsored walk started at Boscombe pier bright and early on Saturday morning where we supplied each of our furred participants with an Upperdog bandana as a tribute to the occasion. We then set off for a leisurely meander across the coast, with tails up and waggling. As the dogs ran on (and the little-legged Chihuahuas were carried) the weather took a slight turn for the worse as a prequel to the weekend’s storms!

After reaching Bournemouth pier we doubled back and started the second leg of the journey, still undeterred by the conditions and the dogs fueled by the excitement of the general outdoors. We shook off the rain and sat soggy but satisfied at the end of our 5-kilometer trip, huddled round cups of coffee, fresh cake and bowls of water at Urban Reef café.

Despite gale force winds and some unrelenting rain, our sponsored stroll successfully raised around £180 for Waggy Tails Rescue charity and Autism Wessex. Waggy Tails Rescue is a local dog rehoming charity, and Autism Wessex continues to provide high-quality specialist services for those affected by autism – two very worthy causes.

We’d like to thank all those that came out to play and walked pier to pier with us, and of course all the well-behaved dogs that kept us smiling throughout the drizzle.
